This is a 20 credit module taught by a SWAST Tutor in SWAST Venue

This mentorship course supports and facilitates student learning whilst implementing approved assessment processes over 4 taught days. Students will have the opportunity to engage with a number of different perspectives by participating in lead lectures in order to introduce, analyse and synthesise issues, concepts and ideas.

Further learning opportunities will be provided through seminars, distance learning and guided independent reflective study.

Assessed Learning Outcomes

At the end of the module the learner will be expected to be able to:
  1. Meet the NMC or HCPC Standards for education and supporting learning and assessment in practice.
  2. Engage inand critically evaluate strategies used to provide effective facilitation of practice learning.
  3. Analyse factors likely to affect the provision of mentorship in practice settings
  4. Identify and reflect on professional issues arising from assessment in practice, including inter-assessor reliability.
  5. Critically evaluate the contemporary issues in both healthcare and education that influence  practice education.
  6. Explore current assessment or appraisal systems.

Course Information

Uniform is not required for this course. Lunch is not provided.
This is a 20 credit Level 6 module run in collaboration with Plymouth University.

How to apply

To apply for funding you must complete all of the following steps;
      1. Please ensure you are available to attend all 4 teaching days.
      2. Download the application form : HE-CPD-Funding-Application-form-2017-v.13
      3. Complete Part 1: Applicant Details: Please include the location and run dates of the module you are applying for. You MUST complete ALL the information in Part 1.
      4. Email the application for to your Operations Manager or Operations Officer so they can complete Part 2.
      5. Your OM or OO will then send the completed form to cpd.admin@swast.nhs.uk by the deadline stated above.
      6. You will receive an acknowledgement email from the CPD Team.
      7. All applications will be considered and you will be contacted to advise you whether you have been granted funding by the CPD Admin Team.
(The application process produces a score and has been approved by HR in line with staff development programs and strategic plans. Highest scoring applicants will be offered places 1st. If oversubscribed, applicants will be offered places in order of date of application).
